WHAT IS SPANDA YOGA MOVEMENT THERAPY?
Spanda is a sanskrit term from the vedic period, the golden age of Ancient Indian philosophy. It refers to the creative pulse, the divine activity of existence. Spanda in us is therefore spiritual dynamism, the causa sine qau non of all our activity. In Spanda® Yoga Movement Therapy we value each unique person’s inner direction and impulse to live, learn, heal and grow. This is synonymous to Joseph Campbell’s advise to “following your bliss” and to not let anyone convince you otherwise. When we do so we're allowing the spanda-shakti within to guide us.
In Spanda® Yoga, essential yoga principles are drawn from a deep knowledge base of classical yoga science and philosophy, then rendered accessible through modern methods of transmission that are not culturally or religiously bound. This systematic approach allows individuals to investigate their own responses to yoga practice from within a context that integrates eastern and western approaches to human potential. The tradition from which Spanda® Yoga Movement Therapy is derived draws upon the complementarities between Yoga (the practical application of Samkhya), Vedanta, and the overlay between Tantra and Kashmir Shaivism.

YOGA THERAPY TO
INCREASE ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Do you consider yourself an athlete? Are you looking to refine the control of your energy and physical body? Enhancing SpandaⓇ Yoga can help:
-
Refine athletic performance (What is the most efficient way to cycle the legs through the pedaling motion of a bicycle? How do you use the whole body to deliver force repetitively through the water when rowing? As a martial artist, how do you recoil and recover balance after a strike? What is the best way to keep the heartbeat and blood oxygen perfusion calm and regular when performing?)
-
Experienced yogis take their practice to the next level (Have you been regularly attending hatha, vinyasa, or kundalini yoga classes? Are you ready to establish a strong home practice, but are not sure how to organize your workout? Do you require special care and instruction not available in the group class setting?)
